The Scripps National Spelling Bee (formerly the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee and commonly called the National Spelling Bee) is a highly competitive annual spelling bee in the United States, with participants from other countries as well. It is run on a not-for-profit basis by The E. W. Scripps Company.

The 84th Scripps National Spelling Bee will be held from May 31 - June 2, 2011 at the Gaylord National in Oxon Hill, Maryland near Washington, D.C.. People can watch the Bee live at Gaylord National, from Preliminaries to the Championship Finals.

You don't have to spell Chas, We've never even heard of the words. What's fascinating to me is they spell them even if they have never heard of the word before. To watch the children up there is wonderful.
