Winning option:Yes, but less than $30/share Apple AAPL +0.25% announced its first quarterly dividend last March and hiked it by 15% on Tuesday afternoon, announcing the move alongside what was otherwise a tough earnings report for the second fiscal quarter, which showed a drop in gross margins that is expected to extend into the current period.

Predictions

Background

Last year, the company announced a dividend and buyback a few weeks after its annual shareholder meeting, prompting Scott Redler, chief strategic officer at T3Live.com, to wonder if the company could do something similar this time around.

“People are hoping that CEO Tim Cook comes out with something soon because the stock’s been under pressure for so long,” said Redler, who said he’s long the stock right now. “I would think he would need to do something sooner than later.

“Traders more and more want to be involved with this name in case Cook does come out and announce something,” Redler added.
