Background

Harrison Ford is open to the idea of bringing Han Solo back to life on the silver screen in 2015, according to sources close to the just-announced Star Wars sequel, but don’t be surprised if his contract includes a mandatory death scene for the sly old space smuggler.

While Disney has yet to confirm it's bringing back the original "Star Wars" cast members for the next installment of the franchise, "Episode VII," that hasn't stopped a few of them from spilling the beans.

The latest is Carrie Fisher, who told TV Guide that she'll reprise her role as Princess Leia. (This isn't the first time she's said it either.) Fisher says that she, Harrison Ford, and Mark Hamill will start filming in March or April of this year. Ford will play Han Solo and Hamill will be back as Luke Skywalker.

Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will all return for the latest film in the Star Wars series, according to the long-running space saga's creator George Lucas.

LucasFilm itself refused to confirm or deny the story. "George couldn't say whether they were signed or not and neither can we. As Yoda said, 'always in motion is the future'. Stay tuned," said a spokesman.

Some past statements from George Lucas:

- Episode VII would begin roughly 20 (or perhaps 30 or 40) years after the end of Return of the Jedi (according to Lucas in 1980 and 1982).

- R2-D2 and C-3PO would be the only characters who might continue through all nine films (Lucas in 1980, 1981 and 1983).

- The key actors, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, would appear, in their 60s or 70s (Lucas in 1983).

Of course he's also quoted as saying there would never be a 6,7 & 8. "This is it." he said during an interview in1999. But even with Disney at the wheel, I just can't see them ignoring some of the key characters from the previous episode.
