Winning option:Russia There truly is no place like home when it comes to the Winter Olympics and Russia.

The host country took advantage of familiar ice, snow and everything in between at the 2014 Games in Sochi by finishing atop the medal count race with an impressive 33 medals. Among those 33 podium finishes were 13 golds, which was also the most of any nation.

Background

With the 2014 Sochi Olympics just a year away, one European company foresees good things for Canada.

Infostrada Sports Group in the Netherlands predicts Canada will top all countries with 17 gold medals in Sochi and place third overall with 32 podium finishes.

At the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, Canada set a national record for a Winter Games by winning 26 medals, and Canada's 14 gold medals in Vancouver doubled the country's previous best total.

Three years ago, the United States led with 37 medals overall, outdistancing Germany (30) and Canada. But the Americans, according to Infostrada, are projected to fall to fourth place in Russia with 28 medals, including 10 gold.

Infostrada predicts Germany to win the most hardware with 39 medals, followed by Norway (38) and Canada.

well, such cases can happen all the time. often, the outcome of a question becomes known long before a question suspends. while one can't prevent people selling stakes on wrong outcomes, settling the question on an earlier date will void any predictions made after the outcome was known.

but, you're probably right, in this case the question should suspend earlier since we already know now when at last medals are going to be won.

   Super Usermayank

That is fine and seems to be in the interest of the traders but, the suspension time given is 02/24/2014 04:15 IST whereas the Games will be over latest by 02/24/2014 01:00 IST. In that case, one may bet a lot of money after the FINAL MEDAL TALLY is up for all to see. It'll be like an open-book examination!

same thing: should the question "who will win the formula 1 season 2014" suspend before the season? I don't think so - it should remain open until the winner is clear, which may last upto the last race. and even during that last race, if one or more drivers may win the championship, the question should remain open.

if some of the options in the question render impossible, these options can be deactivated.

@cici, @mayank, the intention of this game is to allow trading as long as all outcomes remain possible - even during the event. this is why you may make predictions even during trading hours of the dow jones. players don't like their money tied up in questions which remain suspended for weeks before the outcome.

once the winners start you have a pretty good lead. it should have been suspended before the games started, not after the winner started getting a lead.

   Super Userkruijs

isn't suspension on Feb 23rd too late than?

   Super Usermayank

...given the Olympics conclude on Feb 24th!

   Super Usermayank

Isn't the suspension time a bit too late?

   cici predicted Germany

almost last time, maybe this time.
