Winning option:Christopher Froome Britain's Chris Froome has won the 100th edition of the Tour de France. Froome finished safely in the bunch on the 21st and final stage of the three-week race, a 133.5-km ride from Versailles to Paris which was won by Germany's Marcel Kittel.
Cavendish had won four in a row on the Champs-Élysées but could only manage third place behind Kittel and his fellow German André Greipel.
Behind, Team Sky crossed the line arm-in-arm as they celebrated Chris Froome's Tour win. "It brought tears to my eyes, just coming over the line like that," Froome told ITV4 afterwards.
