Authorities are searching for a 44-year-old man who eluded deputies during a chase after he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and assaulted the woman Thursday night in west Harris County.
Billy Ray Walters is charged with evading arrest and burglary of a habitation, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office
Deputies said a woman called 911 to report her ex-boyfriend, later identified as Walters, had broken into her home and assaulted her. After she called 911, Walters left, speeding away from her home in a black Jaguar.
A patrol deputy dispatched to the residence spotted the Jaguar and tried to stop it. But Walters refused to stop, deputies said. The deputy followed him.
During the chase, deputies said, Walters jumped out of the moving car and the Jaguar rolled forward, hitting the garage of a home in the 6800 block of Prairie Village.
Walters ran away, jumping over several fences.
