Winning option:other outcome He wasn't fired and he didn't resign. His contract was completed and wasn't renewed.

McQueary, whose contract with Penn State wasn't renewed, testified this summer that he came upon Sandusky and the boy in a sexually suggestive position in a team shower in early 2001.

Background

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (KDKA) — Interim Penn State University President and Athletic Director Rodney Erickson says Mike McQueary has been placed on paid administrative leave.

The decision was made by Erickson. McQueary was notified this afternoon.

“It became clear coach McQueary couldn’t function in this role under these circumstances,” Erickson said.

The university made the announcement late Thursday that McQueary would not be coaching or attending Saturday’s game against Nebraska at Beaver Stadium.

McQueary is the latest employee to be affected by the fallout from the child sex abuse scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.

On Wednesday, the university’s board of trustees fired longtime football head coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier.

Athletic Director Tim Curley and Gary Shultz, a top administrator, stepped down amid perjury charges.

Former Penn State University assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was sentenced on Tuesday to 30 to 60 years in prison for his conviction in a child sex abuse case, a length of time his attorney said was equivalent to a life sentence.

I think they should have showed Mike McQueary the door just like they showed Joe Paterno I understand why Joe had to go the Head coach always has to take the fall, however what every Mike McQueary saw he should have called the POLICE after he beat the dog s**t out of Jerry Sandusky for what he saw him do to a child. Penn State is just covering their backside right now they better open their FAT Check book because they about to make some lawyer very happy when they start paying settlements. I just got one question why did it take the police this long to break this case wide open?
