Background

The summer of 2011 is now in sixth place in terms of worst summer since 1901. Although the predictions are slightly better for this week, this summer will probably end up within the top 3.

MeteoConsult Wageningen meteorologist Peter Church Mans said the figures of the meteorological summer, which started on June 1st, imply this. It shows that the country's inner areas have had a 10 percent sun shine deficit, and temperatures were 0.3 degrees low. In coastal areas the lack of sun not too bad, he said.

Haha, now you disguise this weather question as climate science and put it in the environment category. I'm still advocating the scientific nature of the "weather markets", too :)
