Winning option:400 to less than 500 million Powerball luck has struck three times — once in Minnesota and twice in New Jersey — for the multistate lottery's latest massive jackpot.

Sue Dooley, senior drawing manager production coordinator for the Multi-State Lottery Association, said late Wednesday night that three tickets matched all six numbers and would split the $448 million Powerball jackpot.

Background

After lottery hopefuls failed to match all winning six numbers in the Powerball drawing on Saturday night, the jackpot has swollen to $235 million this week.

The last person to win big in the Powerball was Gloria MacKenzie, who collected the biggest-ever single jackpot ($590.5 million) back in May.

No one hit the Powerball jackpot this weekend, so the money will roll over and create a roughly $400 million prize for Wednesday’s drawing.

The midweek jackpot remains below the record $590.5 million jackpot won in May by an 84-year-old Florida woman. But as it stands, it would be the third-largest Powerball jackpot ever and the fourth-largest lottery prize on record.

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to $290 million.

According to the Powerball website, no tickets sold for Wednesday’s drawing matched all of the winning numbers. There were tickets that matched five numbers, but not the Powerball, in California, Connecticut, Florida, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Pennsylvania.
