Korvotney Barber, a former Auburn University basketball player, is missing and is believed to have drowned off the Florida coast.
The 26-year-old went missing on Saturday night, the Birmingham News reported, and was last seen around 7 p.m. in the waters off the coast of Panama City Beach. Swimming was not permitted in the area, and two red flags were posted along the shore warning beachgoers of hazardous conditions.
“Former AU basketball player Korvotney Barber is missing & believed to have drowned last night. My toughts & prayers go out to his family,” Auburn coach Tony Barbee tweeted Sunday afternoon.
Police told the Birmingham News that another swimmer, Tony Underwood, Jr., drowned on Saturday.
A highly-recruited prospect, the 6-foot-7 Barber played four seasons at Auburn, averaging 10.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg and 1.4 bpg.
