.Egypt asks U.S., UK, France to freeze assets
LONDON, Feb 14 (Reuters) - The United States, Britain and France said on Monday they had been asked by Egypt to freeze the assets of former Egyptian officials, although Washington and Paris said former President Hosni Mubarak was not on the list.

An EU diplomat said Egypt had made a similar request to the European Union. France and Britain said they have asked EU finance ministers to discuss the issue on Tuesday.

Mubarak, who resigned on Friday after weeks of protests, and other senior officials are suspected of having sent billions of dollars of assets abroad. Protesters have called for the cash to be clawed back to help alleviate poverty in Egypt
