Right now, Knew The News is run by a team of volunteers which have been asked to participate in the process of game and rule outlining, as well as to contribute ideas on game development and site design.

In addition to this, these special players take responsibility in daily business. They take care to review and settle markets and to monitor game play in general.

The intend to make Knew The News a unique news prediction site means that as many members as possible should be included in running the site. And so, in the future, members which are active on site or otherwise prove their understanding of the game should have the opportunity to inherit similar tasks, if they like to.

The first task is to agree on how members are determined to be eligible to become "super users".

What do you think?

My idea is to derive the candidates from the monthly community ranking. Let's say: The first three people automatically qualify to become a "super user".

I am not sure where best to bring up this comment, so i will make it here.. It is related to improving the site...

I see a number of problems (for me.., and possibly others).. I don't use the txt messaging.. just an old fashioned computer.., and don't trust facebook because of all the bad press..etc. re security.. So, just old fashioned html web site.. In looking at your screen with my notebook, which has good resolution, i mostly don;t see the tool bar at bottom.. and so maybe a lot of other people dont see it too.. could it be on a 2nd line below top? and /or where
is the best place to have a kind of open coffee room like "chat room" or some label that is clear how many people are there if u want to chat (like u can sign in, and out, as not available.. etc. and get some kind of beep or message if a new person arrives..)..
and one other thing... i think a lot of people who start out ( i see who has "given up" because they havent signed in for a long time, because they have lost all their money, or it gets tied up in questions that never settle.. so this is discouraging .. they need more money for signing in.., than the 25$.., may be 100$ .. so they can get a few good bets.. (and then there should be some time limit on questions. , say if they havent setttled after 1 month after the settle ment date, an automatic void is issued...), so the new people get their money back.. i am not worried about rich guys like me and you (whoever is reading this post, as all the people who have gone do not have much money because the markets are too discouraging.. too many long term questions which do not settle in atimely fashion... i am not sure why. but there is a breakdown because more questions ar generated than settled... sorry for th overlong post.. Ken
ps.. great job Kruis

Thanks for your input Ken. The links in the footer are also found in the dropdown menus up top under "Site". It would be nice to add another line up there, but it comes down to the clutter battle!

Believe it or not and unlike Hubdub, we really haven't had anybody lose all their money and not come back. In the past I've suggested more up-front money to new users (like $10,000) which I like to believe would get spread out into more markets. What we've found, however, is that often new users join, place a couple bets (or none at all) and just disappear with lots of money left over. In any case, the daily reward is important and can always be adjusted if necessary.

As far as markets not settling, I personally haven't noticed any problem with that. I'm sure you normally do, but be sure to flag those when you see them. The site is diversified with both short and long term markets. I like to bet on the actual outcomes of stories and not "no news by settlement date", but it's all how the question is written. And how soon an outcome can be expected.

Ken, when a market does not get settled in time, get the feminine portion of your brain working, and annoy the hell out of them.

Thanks cici, I think i lost the feminine part of my brain, but i have a LOT of empathy for women, as only have daughters. I recognize how anti-feminine the male world is.... it is a great shame... '
In the US, it is (i think) , relatively good, but still outrageously anti-feminine...
