Katie Couric’s contract with CBS News expires in May, leading many to wonder whether she’ll hop on board for more time at the network or work for another channel.
Couric, the current “Evening News” anchor, has been employed at CBS since 2006. After nearly fifteen years at NBC, Couric joined CBS and became the first female solo anchor of a weekday network evening news broadcast, according to CBS.
Though it’s possible she could get asked to stay at CBS, The Daily Mail reported Monday that Couric is in “secret talks” to join ABC. She reportedly met with ABC head Ben Sherwood last month. Competition could be tough, however, as the channel’s anchor Diane Sawyer only moved from the morning program a little more than a year ago and earns higher ratings than Couric.
The New York Post says Couric is considering new options, including a possible daily talk show. Many speculate she’ll team up with NBC again to launch her own syndicated chat show.
