Winning option:No As Mr. Tilley put it, Netherlands, the last non-former-champion in contention, were 'too polite' to have made it.

Predictions

Background

The 19 World Cup tournaments have been won by eight different national teams. Brazil have won five times, and they are the only team to have played in every tournament. The other World Cup winners are Italy, with four titles; West Germany, with three titles; Argentina and inaugural winners Uruguay, with two titles each; and England, France, and Spain, with one title each.

N.B.: Germany and West Germany shall be considered equivalent to each other for the sake of clarity.

Only one non-former-champion, the Netherlands remain now in contention.

An angry Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has said he is confident that his team already has one hand on this year's FIFA World Cup trophy, and has roundly blasted critics who think otherwise.

Speaking ahead of his team's quarter-final clash against Colombia in Fortaleza, Scolari said the 2002 World Cup winners are on course to reclaim the trophy on home soil.
